In the Spring of 2009, we moved back to Lancaster County, Pa and began farming on a commercial level. This has been a life long dream of ours and we worked hard for many years to make it happen. Our focus is to raise dairy goats that not only do well on the milk stand but also in the show ring. This is why we choose to participate in DHIR and Linear Appraisal under the American Dairy Goat Association. We may choose to go to several sanctioned shows each year but have decided to limit the number we go to.
With clear cut goals in mind, we have decided to focus on three breeds, Alpines, Nubians, and Saanens. The combination of these three breeds seem to give us the quantity and quality of milk necessary for running a successful commercial dairy. Our girls combine some of the most well known pedigrees in the country. They are descendants from ADGA's Top Ten Milker list, Superior Genetics and Elite Sire programs, * Milkers, and National Champions. We believe our passion, drive, and dedication hold the key to our future success.
Although we have close to 200 dairy goats, each animal on our farm is treated with respect and dignity while getting individualized attention. Their health and happiness is most important to us. After all, they are part of our family! Besides...happy and healthy animals produce more milk and live longer lives.
We also have two very spoiled Springer dogs, five cats, a duck (who thinks she is a goat) and one crazy bird named Santino. Plus, Duroc show pigs, a couple of ponds filled with fish and frogs and 4 pet bunnies for good measure. For a bunch of animal lovers…this is heaven!
In addition to having a show quality commercial herd, we also run a handmade artisan goat milk soap business that will leave your skin begging for more! You may visit our soap page by clicking here Bada Bing Farm Goat Milk Soaps. We raise market hogs as well, supplying many families with family raised fresh pork. In the future, we plan on adding a goat milk cheesery to our farm and we are currently working on our raw milk permit.
Our farm products have won many awards. Our goat milk soaps won 1st place at the 2008 Pa State Farm Show and the 2008 Elizabethtown Fair and most recently 2nd place at the American Dairy Goat Association's 2008 Bath Care Products Competition at the ADGA National Convention, 2nd at the 2009 Pa Farm Show (these are the only 4 soap competitions we ever entered), handmade quilts (placed 3rd at the 2009 Pa State Farm Show), knit/crochet items have won every place from 1st to 4th in various country fairs such as the Tioga County Fair and the Solanco Fair, and our animals have won many blue ribbons as well. We are proud to be a registered farm with Pa Dept. of Agriculture as one of their PA Preferred Farms.
